Today’s story is about Jeffrey Preston Bezos nee Jorgensen, born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on January 12, 1964, to Jacklyn (née Gise) and Theodore Jørgensen. He is an American business magnate, media proprietor, and investor. Bezos is the founder and executive chairman of Amazon, having served as chairman, president, and CEO. After his parents divorced, his mother married Cuban immigrant Miguel “Mike” Bezos in April 1968. After the wedding, Mike adopted four-year-old Jorgensen, whose surname was then changed to Bezos. Bezos graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University in 1986 with a degree in computer science and electrical engineering.
As a young child, Jeff Bezos had to go through the stress of seeing his parent divorced and adjusting to his mother’s lifestyle, which was stressful because it wasn’t easy for a single mother trying to complete her education. Thanks to his adopted father, his life was transformed, and he had a proper upbringing with a sound education.

Shaw & Co, a newly founded hedge fund with a strong emphasis on mathematical modeling, in 1990 and worked there until 1994. Bezos became D. E. Shaw’s fourth senior vice-president at age 30.
His Eureka moment finally arrived when his online book store named “Amazon,” With no press promotion, sold books across the United States and in 45 foreign countries within 30 days. In two months, sales reached $20,000 a week, growing faster than Bezos and his startup team had envisioned. He further brought innovations such as drone service, food delivery, clothes, CD, toys, electronics, and lots more. As of June 2021, the net worth of Amazon is estimated to be $1 trillion and has been projected to go higher.
He ventured into other successful businesses such as the Washington Post and series of publication companies doing well in journalism. He also founded Blue Origin, an aerospace company that develops technologies to lower the cost of space travel to make it accessible to paying customers. In August 2019, NASA announced that Blue Origin was among 13 companies selected to collaborate on 19 technology projects to reach the moon and Mars.
