J. K. Rowling

“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be,” once said a little girl who grew up to be one of the best authors the world has seen.
Today we will be inspiring ourselves with the story of J.K Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter universe. Joanne Kathleen Rowling was born near Bristol, England. Growing up, she was always surrounded by books as she loved reading and writing. She published her first book when she was only six years old and her first novel at the mere age of eleven! She worked at a company in London, when she had the brainchild ‘Harry Potter.’

A short while later, Joanne’s mother passed away which dampened the progress of her book. Furthermore, she ended up with a failed marriage, and a daughter who she had to raise all by herself. She had no job and too much responsibility. Her life was like a vicious downward spiral.

No matter what life threw at her, this strong woman did not give up on her passion- writing. She kept going despite getting rejected 12 times by publishers for the Harry Potter manuscript. Finally, it was accepted by Bloomsbury, and published in 1997.
This was the Eureka moment of her life.

Then, she went onto writing the next series of her books, like “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”. Meanwhile the first book, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone” was being adapted into a movie by Warner Bros. production. The next books in the series were adapted as well, between 2001 and 2011.

She received appreciation and great readership from all over the world for her astonishing writing and imagination.

She is a great role model for everyone and her story shows that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
In her words, “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times. Only if one remembers to turn on the light.”
